I am trying to get simple file written with the daily forecast. I have the following in the Export Template.

[DETAILED LOOP COUNT=1]
[DETAILED FORECAST]
[/DETAILED LOOP]

The result I get is the following.

Showers and scattered thunderstorms.&nbsp; Low 44?F <SPAN CLASS=Grayed>(7?C)</SPAN>.&nbsp; Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.&nbsp; Chance of rain 60%.

Note the imbedded HTML with &nbsp and Span Class. How can those be eliminated? I wish to have just a simple TXT file with the data.

If you review the code and eliminate the HTML tags you should get the text file you desire.

That would be great if it were all text. As I described in my initial message, I do not have any HTML tags. The result shows the &nbsp and the reference to the SPAN CLASS. I did not insert that. That ended as part of the TXT message result

I wish to create a text file with the forecast information. I then will use that txt file for another purpose. I will not be displaying it on the internet on a web page

I thought that [CRLF] would add a carriage return / line feed where indicated so the text would not all run together.

[CRLF] is only available as a Log option. Come to think of it a WW Log may be more suited to your text requirements than an Export is. Have you tried a Log?

Thanks for the suggestion to use the logging function. Unfortunately that does not produce the results I want either. Here is the coding in the template.

Note that the [CRLF] function has no effect. For testing purposes I was running the update every minute.

My ultimate goal is to get something like this. I don't see the Logging function doing this but I will keep trying.

I've never worked with the Log option before but I can confirm that the [CRLF] tag doesn't work with it any better than the Export option.

This template got me a little closer to your goal;

but still not 100% and certainly not multidays. Which made me think of yet another option. The WW Detailed Forecast view. It shows more what you want and you can print it and/or print it to a file. If you don't like the format you can change the wtp file.

The Splendid Detailed wtp file is quite complex but the version in the Classic skin isn't (and is what I use in my Stone Soup skin), it should be easier for you to tweak to your needs.

What do ya think of this idea?

BTW Having a Retrieve Weather button on the Log and Export Option tabs would sure be convenient when playing with templates. Or make it an automatic part of the Apply buttons.

Yep thats as close as I have been as well. Problem I see is not being able to put a CRLF behind a line to move to the next line.

I am trying to automate a weather bulletin to be sent out via Packet radio. These messages are only in text format. Using the example that I showed before, I am copying and pasting the data into the bulletin. Thats fine when I am around the keyboard to do that. If I am not, then notthing gets created.

Because the bulletins are all text based I cannot use anthing that would require a webpage to view.

Well line breaks certainly help readability but how does that make the radio sound better? I have 0 experience with Packet radio and am assuming it is similar to regular radio ie it's audio.

Does the input to Packet radio understand escape codes like \n? Or hex codes for CR and LF?

As you can see its pretty hard to read sometimes too. So parsing it out would be beneficial. Again..it is plain text no html etc as it gets sent digitally via radio.
