Nice job! About the only thing I can suggest to improve is an option to use Barba's thermoniter and to list the wind direction in the forecast in the Current Conditions screen (both in the Today/Tonight/Tomorrow forecast and the hourly/7 day forecast at the bottom of the current condition screen).

Gee, I thought you would have commented on the updated About window.

Thank you for crediting me in the About window. I was too humble to mention it. But it was Barba's and Flugger's idea to rotate the moon 180 degrees, so you need to put Barba's name in the credits too. But I will take credit for detecting the night wind direction bug. Thank you for fixing it for us.

Yup, you're a part of the Stone Soup mix now.
It was this posting together with this one that convinced me that there was a different view of the moon seen from the southern hemisphere than what we see in the northern hemisphere. The topic had been discussed in the past but I was never convinced before.
And it was your .CSS file that I looked at for how you accomplished the change. I did not look at Barba's code or Flugger's, though I have looked at his work in the past and I wouldn't be surprised if your change came by way of his work . But my moon change is definitely rooted in your efforts.
And of course so is the night Wind fix. I had noticed the problem for a long time but never looked into it to determine a work around. Finding a tag with the correct data was the key to this change.
For a guy that says he doesn't know what he is doing you're doing quite well.

It's nice to hear someone standing up for the right of others, but I'm with EdP on this one - his solution has nothing to do with mine [and probably Barba's]... And if credit for the idea should be placed, it should go to drawdeselrahc who originally requested the feature... I can't, however, see how dlbryant's post was the convincing factor - drawdeselrahc himself lives in Australia and should be able to see what the moon looks like
But credit for the windfix has only one place to go, and I'll be sure to grant too, when I make my next version of CSSplendd... I know I've seemed dead lately, but now I'm awake again, and I hope it won't be too long...

Hi Fl?gger.
I remember our discussions with drawdeselrahc but I thought the solution to his problem was the replacement of the weather.com moon-like images with actual moon images.
There were two postings actually that dlbryant posted that made me see the lignt, so to speak. (And I've updated my posting to reflect that.) Up until then my web search had left me believing we all saw the same thing since the north pole of both solar objects never changed in relation to each other and the web graphics made the images look closer to being the same size.
So, now we are all on the same page in our understanding of the moon and it's view. And how compasses work. And the wind.

I did a few changes to your Stone Soup:
1. I included the wind direction to everything in the current condition screen (all forecasts on the current condition screen).
2. I moved the Options window up so it would not block the moon images and the day abbreviations above them.
3. I gave the forecast screens a splash of purple.
There seems to be a mouseover bug in the Daily Forecast Screen. I put my mouse on the day tabs, and it refuses to give me a forecast for the first day, and only gives me the night forecast of the second day. It looks like it does it after the afternoon forecast becomes N/A and fixes itself when the night data switch occurs. Looks like some coding can fix that.
Here's the changed file for you to look at:
http://webpages.charter.net/david1970/stone.zip
UPDATE: The mouseovers are working as of 3:30PM EDT. The real test is what happens after midnight. This could be a problem with weather.com and not the skin.

What's that old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You are welcome to create a Daves Soup using Eds Stone Soup as your basis and enhance/change/improve/customize it to fit your needs/desires/wishes. But I don't think I will be adding your changes to my version at this time. (However if I see something clever in one of your versions.... )
It might be a good idea at this point for you to start a Dave's Skins thread where you post images of your versions of the skins you create together with their download links. You've earned the right to have your own thread.

How can I add Barba's thermometer to Stone Soup? It is much more realistic than Splendid.
I tried to add it myself, but all I got was a mess.

I would think the process to add it would be a two step process.
1. Resize the gif to the size necessary to fit the space used by the Splendid window for it's thermometer.
a. Add a border=1 to the Table controlling the thermometer (line 336) so you can see what you have to work with. Change it to 0 when done.
b. Enlarging or shrinking the image may distort it in which case you may have to recreate it on your own, (Or ask mom to help. )
2. Add it to the Table's 1st TD tag as a background either as CSS code or the tag's BACKGROUND parm.
a. Adjust the width of the Splendid thermometer temperature images to be narrow and centered in the TD.
There may be other approaches but that's what I would start with.
Good luck.
BTW I will be on vacation starting tomorrow so my online time will be greatly reduced. See you all in a week or so.

That is totally too hard for me to do, as I have very limited HTML skills....besides, I don't want to stray too far from your design, so I can upgrade my version of Stone Soup, as you upgrade yours.
The mouseover problem in the Daily Forecast screen is popping up again. It's a giant pain in the neck from midnight to 3AM local time. Weather.com shows everything N/A for the afternoon forecast after 2PM to Midnight. Then after midnight, it fills everything but the afternoon high. That is causing the mouseover for the first two days to misfire. We really need to do something like re-fill the afternoon forecast with N/As from midnight to 3AM. That way the mouseovers will work again, Currently from Midnight to 3AM, the mouseover doesn't work at all for the first day, and only shows the night detailed forecast for the second day.

Not so much.
It's not pretty but this should show you the way.
Code: <TD BACKGROUND="Images/Termo2.gif" ALIGN=center STYLE="padding-left: 1px; padding-top: 1px; border-style: solid; border-color: #7385AD; border-width: 0px; border-left-width: 1px; border-top-width: 1px; background-color: #FFF"> <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript" LANGUAGE="Javascript"> if (readCookie("WWThermometerColor") == "MultiCcolor") { for (i=1;i<=blueBarCount;i++) { document.write("<IMG SRC='Images/Thermometer/BarOff"+i+".png' WIDTH='06' HEIGHT='12'><BR>"); }
Repeat the WIDTH change for all remaining entries
I added the BACKGROUND="Images/Termo2.gif" ALIGN=center to the TD tag and changed the temperature images widths to WIDTH='06'.
This size image is close to what you want: 26x300
I'll try to look into the Mouseover problem when I return. Have fun while I'm gone.

I tried to get rid of the daily forecast mouseover bug, with no success. It seems that all the skins have the bug. It occurs from midnight till 3AM EST. Check out 23434 after midnight. It refuses to display the mouseover for the first day and only the night forecast for the next day.

Adware SE detects the cookie used to store the multi colored thermometer as a DataMiner cookie. Is it collecting user data?

Of course. It records the WW forecast window's options that you select.
Cookies are simply text files, open it with Notepad and see what is being saved.
But if it concerns you delete it. Nothing will be lost except your WW thermometer setting, tab settings and moon view setting.
While I use Adaware, and Spybot and a few other malware tools my respect for Adaware has always been tempered by it's reporting of simple text files as being a threat. I disagree. If a file doesn't execute I don't care about it. If it wants to record what ad I saw the last time I visited a website, I don't care. I don't pay attention to any ads I see on the web.
WW stores a ream of data it collects about the weather you select in the Windows Registry and Adaware doesn't blink an eye about that. But watch out for those text files.
I'm sorry, I don't wish to make light of your concerns but the concern over text files always pushes one of my buttons. Don't let the Stone Soup cookie worry you but if it does delete the cookie and use a different skin. There are many to choose from.
