A few days ago I asked Accuweather to give me an answer about the compass in the southern hemisphere and how it related to wind direction there.

To answer your question, any time we have winds out of the north, either north or south hemisphere, this is a wind coming from the north pole. So, any stations we have reporting in the south hemisphere have their wind coming from the equator if it is out of the north. It is universal across the globe.

Yanno, the whole wind thing - I was going to comment on that, because the directions and degrees both used in determining wind position are absolute - in both hemispheres, N is N, E is E, 270 is 270 (W) and 180 is 180 (S) - so wind direction should be the same around the world.

Thanks for asking accuweather, because I then proceeded to confuse myself after thinking some more, and was going to ask a pilot buddy of mine, whom I haven't gotten a hold of yet.

Now I'm confused. I thought that a standard compass in the south pointed to the south pole. This is saying that that is incorrect and that it always points to the north pole.

Ok, a moment of clarity. In the southern hemisphere a compass does point to the magnetic South Pole but it's still south and north is still north. Ok, now I think I'm actually begining to understand some of this. Life was so much easier when the world was flat.

lol - yeah right. Then we could also take our neighbors out for a witch burning if we did not like them....

Anyhoo, thought the compass's *needle* changes from N to S changing hemispheres, it doesn't change the actual direction the wind is coming from - if it is coming from the N, you don't say it is coming from the S in the southern hemisphere. So, the direction of needle pointing is kinda irrelevant when relating to wind direction.

I'm aware that my latest bug-fix makes the today's forecast icon at the bottom show N/A after 3PM. I did all that for those who don't like the scrolling ticker (like my Mom). All they need to do is put the mouse cursor over the current day at the bottom of the skin to get the forecast for today.

Found another bug, this time it wasn't showing tomorrow's forecast icon in the scrolling ticker. Fixed it.

Boy is this skin really working the gray matter in my brain!

Rather than posting every single change as soon as you make it, run it on your system for 24 hrs to prove that it works for all situations, then post it.

Thanks Ed for the advice. I have never done anything remotely like I have done with this skin, so I don't know what is the proper procedure for all of this.

I'm having a time with the "view this forecast at weather.com" link.
If I make it one color at the current conditions screen, it looks terrible at the Daily, Hourly, and Hourly forecast screens (and vice versa). I would hate for Baraba to change the dark wood background, it looks beautiful, but it is playing havoc with the link color. Finally, I decide to make the link color blue and the hover color aqua, so that when the user hovers over it on the current conditions screen, they can see it.

I know I'm being nitpicky, but I'm a perfectionist.

David, you could also start your own thread, and post the link in the first post, and just tell ppl to re-download from the first post, or if you are allowed to edit your own posts regardless of how many posts follow it, then edit the first post every time you update - that will also help keep a running tab of what changes you make.

Take a looksie at how Ed is doing his skin post to get a few ideas....

I noticed that many of the foreign cities wait until very late (some as late as 5AM local time) to do the tonight/tomorrow data switch. Some do it as early as 2AM. I thought it was a problem with Marmol, but I put a fresh copy of Stone Soup in my computer and it was doing the same thing. Have you expereinced anything like this?

It seems normal to me. Things are based on local customs and wishes for each location. Not a bug imo.

You're right. As for the United States, the data switch was on schedule at 3AM.

The skin indeed does not have a bug there.
