the stand phpBB theme is soo.... boring and plain and.... well it sucks... I think you should go with one of these themes... I think they are some of the best out there...

I'd also recomend going with eXtreme Styles Mod... This will help speed up the forum loading and will also unlock some great features of the above styles.

Also, maybe, the subMerged style - I think it's more convenient in it's layout... Just add them to the users choices of styles..?
